Farewell fiesta a mixed affair
LUDHIANA: The Holi bash of Niharika Ladies Club held on Friday was a mixed affair. Amidst spray of colors, congratulatory smiles and hugs, trolls and comedy, and peppy tunes of 'rang barse', there were discernable freckles of tension on the faces of the club members.
The club organized its 'Farewell Fiesta' for the present executive session with the 'Holi Dhamaal'.

The news of Daljeet Kochar taking over as president has been doing rounds for quite sometime now and hence the development was welcomed with smiles and hugs. The real concerns, however, are the nominations for the remaining posts that would be decided by the new president of the club and the announcement in this regard will be made during their next meeting scheduled for April 11.
The club was formed in 1987 with some like-minded young women from the city who were looking for some interesting ways to pass time. Unlike several other ladies clubs in the city that boast of a large number of members, Niharika club has about 80 members and is still growing. However, this doesn't mean that there isn't a tough fight for nominations and executive posts.
The club on Friday declared the end of presidentship of Dolly Chhabra, who thanked the members for their support during her tenure, and welcomed Daljeet Kochar as the club president.
This year there were three nominations for the post of president - Bala Sehgal (member of the advisory board), Jaspal Kaur (cultural secretary) and Daljeet Kochar (vice-president).
